Code Pink!

She struggled to find her voice. “Andy … Andy,” she said haltingly, in a muffled tone. “Are you awake?”

“Barbara, what’s the matter! Where are you? I can barely hear you.”

“Andy, I need you to come to the hospital—now, Andy. I am so scared.” She began sobbing. “Please hurry.”

“Barbara, what’s wrong? What’s happened?”

“Policemen are here … someone took Leanne’s baby…they are going to interview me,” she said between breathlessness crying. “I need you, Andy. I’m frightened.”

“Barbara! Please calm down. Who is Leanne, and why are you being questioned?”

“I didn’t get to tell you the story this morning. You were still asleep when I got home. I didn’t want to bother you. I’ll explain later. Please get a taxi and come help me,” she pleaded. “There’s some money for the taxi in the bottom drawer of my dresser—hidden under my jewelry box.

“I’ll be there as soon as I can. Now stop worrying. We’ll talk about it.”

“The hospital is sealed off from anyone coming in. I’ll try to get someone from administration to let you in. Please hurry, Andy.”

“I will. Now, don’t talk to anyone or answer questions until I’m by your side.”
